India Vs South Africa first (1st) test will start from 26th-30th of march 2008. The test match will be played in Chennai.
Test matches at Chennai normally mean a lot of rain and disturbances. But the cricket board seems to have worked well at the issue by arranging the tour in March-April, when the chances of rain are minimum.
Meanwhile, two of the indian back-bone players Harbhajan Singh and Mahendra Singh Dhoni have been declared fit for the first test match, giving a boost to the Indian players.
The pitch at Chennai is expected to be a spinner’s paradise and spinners are expected to play key role in the test match.
South Afrian spinner, Paul Harris, is very excited playing in India and is looking forward to the contest on 26th. He said:
“I’m looking forward to bowling to all of the Indian top order. I’ve been waiting my whole career to play a series in India - probably the best place for a spinner to come and test his skills”
Jaque Kallis wants both spinners and seamers to play their role and thinks that is the only way to win the series. He considers that their strength lies with the bowling attack.

India have announced their team for the first two tests against the No.1 South African side. The first test will be played in Chennai from 26th-30th march 2008.
Amazingly, Harbhajan singh and Mahendra singh dhoni have both been called-in the team for the two tests despite their injury concers as they picked up hamstring injury and sprain respectively in the CB series against Aussies.
India’s top scorer in CB series, Gotham gambhir, has been left out of the team despite his superb one-day international form, as seen in the CB series, where he scored 440 runs in ten Innings.
Ishant sharma will also miss the first two tests due to his toe injury.
Harbhajan and Dhoni are given time utill 26th march before which they’ll have to prove their fitness to the selection commitee.

This is basically a three(3) test match series. First test of the series will be played in march whereas the rest of the two will be played in april 2008.
Presence of Zaheer khan is doubtful due to his health and injury concerns.
